In order for a domain to be transferred into your 123-Reg account the domain will have to be transferred to our Registrar, Tucows.
For the changes to take place we will need the most up to date email address for the domain’s administrative contact. If you (or the administrative contact if this is not you) have changed email address since registering the domain, please contact the domain’s registrar to update the contact details.
To check the domain’s current Registrar and the administrative contact email address enter the domain name in the 'check a domain' box found on our home page.
Before you initiate the transfer make sure the domain is “un-locked” or “active” by entering the domain name in the 'check a domain' box found on our home page. If your domain is locked please contact the current domain registrar to make the necessary changes.
Note that any domain in need of renewal, in redemption period or pending delete will not transfer and will be declined by the registrar.
To start the transfer process log in to your 123-reg members area.
Once the transfer has been started, the current administrative contact will receive an email from Tucows containing an URL, a domain name and password. They can use these details to either cancel the transfer or to confirm it. To prevent any unnecessary delays a phone number is requested by Tucows in case there are any problems.
Upon acceptance of the transfer, it will take 24 hours to complete if the domain is with another Tucows reseller, or UP TO 7 DAYS if the domain is with a different Registrar.
Once this email has been responded to in the timescale specified by that Registrar the domain will then be transferred to 123-Reg.
Remember, as a 123-reg customer you can benefit from our free InstantSite homepage creator, full DNS control, email forwarding and web forwarding.
