How do I change the default renewal method within my 123 Reg account?

This article will explain how to change your primary and backup renewal method.

If you wish to change your default renewal method from a debit/credit card to PayPal (or vice versa), simply follow the instructions outlined below.

Change the payment method for a product

The best way of changing the default payment method for your products is to change its renewal settings. Here’s how to do this:

Step 1 of 5

Start by logging in to your 123 Reg Control Panel.

Step 2 of 5

From there, click Account Settings in the toolbar and then choose Renewals & Billing from the list of options.

Step 3 of 5

You will now be shown a list of your purchased products. Click the tickbox for the product you want to change the payment method for and click Update Payment at the top of the page.

Step 4 of 5

On the next page, select your preferred payment method from the provided list. Alternatively, you can click New Payment Method to create a new one for this product.

Step 5 of 5

Once you’ve done this, click Update Payment Method to save your changes.

Set a backup payment method

If you don’t want to use a specific debit/credit card as your main payment/renewal method, you can set it as a backup option by following these instructions:

Step 1 of 3

Start by logging in to your 123 Reg Control Panel.

Step 2 of 3

From there, click Account Settings in the toolbar and then choose Payment Methods from the list of options.

Step 3 of 3

You will now be shown all your saved payment methods. Click the three-dot icon above the credit/debit card you want to set as your backup payment method and then choose Enable as Backup from the list of options.

You can also change a backup payment method into your main one by clicking Disable as Backup from the list of options.
