The renewal/expiry procedure that the governing registry operates for the .at domain name extension is considerably different from other domain name extensions. This article will explain both how to renew your .at domain name and how to let it expire.
How do I renew my .at domain name with 123-reg?
If you wish to renew your .at domain name through 123-reg, you will need to do so through your 123-reg control panel at least 28 days prior to the expiry date.
123-reg will send you renewal reminders to the registered email address on your 123-reg account 90, 60 and 30 days prior to your domain names expiry date. Any domain names that are not renewed by the date(s) specified in your reminders will be deleted from our database and the registrant will be solely responsible for managing the domain name.
The domain name will not be deleted from the registry and the registrant will be responsible for paying the renewal charge directly to nic.at.
I do not want to renew my .at domain name, I want it to expire.
Important: The .at registry requires for the renewal attempt to be made 28 days prior to the expiry date. If you do not wish to renew your .at domains, please select the "allow to expire" option at least 28 days before its expiry. You must put in writing your notice to cancel at least 28 days prior to the expiry date of the domain name with the registry.
To set your .at domains to expire follow the steps below:
2
Go to the Domain names section.
3
Click Manage domain auto renewal, just below the Domain renewals link.
The Domain Cancellation page will show list of domain names registered within this account.
4
If you have more than one domain which is due to expire, select each domain, then click on the Next Step button.
5
Click on the Confirm Domain Cancellation button.
6
You will need to print the form to process your cancellation request in writing, fill it in where relevant and sign it
http://www.opensrs.com/docs/registry/at/cancellationform.pdf
6
Then you will need to fax the completed cancellation form to +43 (662) 4669-29. Alternatively, you can send it as a scanned email to service@nic.at or servicebureau@tucows.com.
If the above procedure is not followed, once the domain name is within 28 days of expiry, the domain name must be paid for and you will receive a notice to pay letter from the governing registry for €36.
Please note: The policies and procedures outlined above are those of the governing registry, not 123-reg.
