This article applies to 123-reg Linux VPS hosting

This article will explain how you can disable PHP safe mode.

To disable the PHP Safe mode globally (i.e server wide), please edit the following files:

Please Note: Changing the below files is not recommended and should be done so at own risk.

  • /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini
  • /etc/php5/cgi/php.ini
  • /etc/php5/cli/php.ini

You will need to alter the following directives within the files to:

Safe mode = Off

Alternatively, should you wish to disable this on a per site basis, please follow these steps:

1

Login to your Parallels Plesk Panel.

2

Click on the Websites & Domains tab.

3

Click on the relevant domain name link.

4

Under the Web Scripting and Statistics section deselect the tick box next to PHP 'safe_mode' on.

By default, PHP is configured to operate in safe mode, with functional restrictions that strengthen hosting security.

5

Click on the OK button.
