Transferring third party domain names to 123-reg

For .uk domain names

Start at http://contract.1and1.co.uk

Next you will need to go to the 123-reg website and enter the domain name you wish to transfer into the search box in your 123-reg control panel and order your transfer (you will need a 123-reg account)

For .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz

Start at http://contract.1and1.co.uk

Choose the contract which contains the domains.

How to transfer Fasthosts.co.uk domain names to 123-reg

For .UK Domains

Start at www.ukreg.com

To transfer a Fasthosts domain away from UKreg, you'll first need to check if it was initially registered at UKreg or if it was transferred into UKreg from elsewhere.

Click on the "Members Login" link at the top of the page.

Go to UKreg and select "Configure Domains".

Select the Fasthosts domain you'd like to move and choose "Change IPS Tag".

The IPS tag for 123-reg is '123-REG' enter it here.

If the domain was transferred into UKreg you must also send a fax, on headed notepaper, to UKreg providing the following information:

  • The new IPS tag name
  • The username and password for you UKreg account
  • The domain name

Next you will need to order the domain transfer in your 123-reg control panel.

Start at www.ukreg.com

How to transfer GoDaddy.com domain names to 123-reg

For .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz

Start at mya.godaddy.com

Click the "Manage Domains" link from your GoDaddy.com account. This will open the domain control center.

Click on the domain name that you want to transfer from GoDaddy hosting.

Change the lock on the GoDaddy domain by clicking "Manage".

Change the lock to "Unlock" and click the "OK" button.

You now need to get your Auth Code, make a note of this code.

Click the "Send By Email" link. This will send the Auth Code/Handle number to the admin contact for the domain name hosted on GoDaddy.com.

Next you will need to order the domain transfer in your 123-reg control panel. The following three simple steps will help you complete the process of transferring your domain(s) from GoDaddy.com to 123-reg.

Enter the domain name you wish to transfer from GoDaddy hosting into the search box in your 123-reg control panel and order your transfer (you will need a 123-reg account).

How to transfer Joker.com domain names to 123-reg

For .com, .net, .org, .info and .biz

Start at www.joker.com

Select "Service Zone" from the menu on the left

If you know your username and password, enter them and press the "Go" button. The username will be an email address. If you have lost your password, click "Forgot Your Password?" and it will be sent to your email address.

Choose the domain you wish to modify and click on "Modify Domain". Under Utilities, click on "Switch off domain protection". After unlocking your Joker domain name, you will need to get an "Auth Code". This can be found by clicking on "Initiate an Authorization ID request" under Utilities.

Please note: Please cancel your Joker.com hosting if you are no longer going to use it, otherwise you will continue to be billed for your Joker hosting services.


Next you will need to order the domain transfer in your 123-reg control panel. The following two simple steps will help you complete the process of transferring your domain(s) from Joker.com to 123-reg.

How to transfer Names.co.uk domains to 123-reg

For .UK Domains

Log into the Namesco control panel at admin.names.co.uk.

After logging in, click "Domain Names".

Select the Namesco domain name that you'd like to transfer.

Click "DNS & Transfer Options".

Click "Transfer Domain".

Select the "Click here to change the Nominet TAG" option.

Enter the IPS tag "123-REG"

You will then be informed by Namesco it costs £10 plus VAT to leave (just so you know, 123-reg does not get anything from this fee charged by Names.co.uk) and click "Update".

Fill in the payment details requested and Namesco will then process your change.

Next you will need to order the domain transfer in your 123-reg control panel.

Log into the Namesco control panel (http://admin.names.co.uk/). If you have misplaced your username and password, click on the "Forgotten Your Password?" link and ask the system to resend them.

Start at www.lcn.com/user/login

Log in to your LCN account using your number and password.

Click the Domains icon and then choose the LCN domain that you want to move

Now click Transfer Away from the menu on the left

Click the Continue With Transfer button

Enter our IPS tag: 123-REG.

Click Release Domain and wait for up to 24h for the process to be completed.

Next you will need to order the domain transfer in your 123-reg control panel.

For .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz

You can easily transfer LCN domain names to 123-reg, as long as these domain names have more than 60 days since they were registered with /or transferred to LCN.

Start at www.lcn.com/user/login

First, log in to your LCN account

Click the Domains icon and then choose the LCN domain that you want to move

Now click Transfer Away from the menu on the left

How to transfer Easyspace domain names to 123-reg

How to transfer UK2.net domain names to 123-reg

Please note: Please be aware if your domain has been on UK2 hosting for less than two years, UK2 will charge you to move the domain away from them.


For .uk Domains

Start at www.uk2.net/move-away/login/

Enter the domain name that you want to move, then the password (this is your account password), and click the 'Log In' button.

Scroll down until you see the box 'Enter Nominet TAG'. In this box, type in '123-REG'. Then click the 'Update Now' button.

Then you will see your domain on the next screen. Click on "Yes, transfer (name of domain) to 123-reg" and then fill in the payment form to allow your domain to be transferred.

Confirm your payment and submit.

You will then be presented with a reference number on screen with instructions to print out and fax to UK2.

UK2.net may ask additional questions to prove your identity for the transfer.

Wait until you get confirmation from UK2. If you don't hear from them, contact UK2.net support to confirm the transfer has happened at http://support.uk2.net/.

Next you will need to order the domain transfer in your 123-reg control panel.

Enter the UK2 domain name that you want to move, then the password (this is your account password), and click the 'Log In' button.

Scroll down until you see the box 'Enter Tucows domain'. In this box, type in your domain. Then click the 'Update Now' button.

Then you will see your domain on the next screen. Click on "Yes, transfer (name of domain) to (name of domain)" and then fill in the payment form to allow your UK2 domain to be transferred from UK2 hosting to elsewhere.

Confirm your payment and submit.

You will then be presented with a reference number on screen with instructions to print out and fax to UK2.

Transferring a Nominet Domain Name to 123-reg

Transferring a .uk domain to 123-reg.co.uk

Firstly, you need to contact your current provider and ask them to change the IPS tag to 123-REG. Some providers will do this through a control panel, but others will need a fax, email or letter to carry out the change.

Go to https://www.123-reg.co.uk and type your domain name into the Domain Search Box, click on the transfer button.

Select your Domain name from the list, then click on the Transfer button.

Please note: Please ensure you select the Transfer option, and not the Backorder button. Domain name backorders are a method of purchasing domain names that are already owned by another person.

Your domain name will now be added to the basket, click on the Checkout button to continue.

You will now review your basket, click on the Continue button to proceed.

Confirm that you are the owner and allowed to transfer the domain name then click on Continue button.

If already a customer enter your login details and press the Log me in button, if not fill in your details.

Then follow the on-screen instructions.

Tip: After the IPS tag has been changed and you've initiated the transfer in your 123-reg control panel, the domain will automatically transfer to your 123-reg account.
