Transferring a Top-Level Domain away from 123 Reg

This article will explain how to transfer your domain name from 123 Reg

To transfer a Top-Level Domain away from 123 Reg, you will need to follow the instructions outlined below.

Please note: before proceeding, you’ll need to make sure that your domain isn’t locked. In addition to this, if you have an older version of our Domain Ownership Protection service (purchased before August 2023) in place on your domain, you may need to disable this service. For details on how to do this, please read the following articles:

If, however, you have our current Domain Ownership Protection service (purchased after August 2023) assigned to your domain, please continue reading.

Top-Level Domains that are newer than 60 days cannot be transferred in or out of 123 Reg.

A .mx domain transfer request cannot be requested during the last 10 days of its renewal grace period.

.co.za domain names cannot be transferred away from 123 Reg at this time. To transfer your domain name away, please contact the ZA Central Registry: https://coza.net.za/

Step 1 of 7

Start by logging in to your 123 Reg Control Panel.

Step 2 of 7

Next, select Manage All opposite Domains within the ‘All Products and Services’ section.

Step 3 of 7

You will now see a complete list of your purchased domain names. Select the domain you want to update from the provided list.

If you can’t find your domain in this list, you may be able to find it on the Domain Name Overview page within our legacy Control Panel. For more details on this, please read the following article: How do I access and manage my products?

Select Domain

Step 4 of 7

This will take you to the overview page for your chosen domain.

From here, you’ll need to select Transfer to Another Registrar (if you’re using our current Control Panel) or Request Authorisation Code (if you’re using our legacy Control Panel).

Step 5 of 7

If you’re using our current Control Panel, you will see the list of details that you’ll need to complete your transfer. Once you’re done reading this, click Continue with transfer.

Step 6 of 7

If you’ve enabled Domain Ownership Protection on your domain, you will need to verify your identity. This can be done via 2-Step Verification or by entering the one-time password that will be sent to your email address.

Enter your code into the provided field and click Verify.

Step 7 of 7

The Authorisation/EPP code for your domain will be shown on-screen. You will need to provide this to the new registrar that you wish to transfer your domain to. They will be able to advise you on their steps to transfer the domain name to them.

The transfer process for Top-Level Domains can take up to 7 days to complete once the transfer has been approved.
