How do I back up my MySQL database?

This article applies to 123-reg Linux Shared Hosting accounts.

This answer explains how you can backup your database so that in the event of a problem you have a copy of the data from you database.

Important: It is your responsibility to keep an up to date back up of your databases as your 123-reg hosting package does not come with a backup service. This is to ensure that you have usable and up to date back up copies of your data in the unlikely event of corruption or loss of your data from the server.

Backing up your MySQL database

To backup your MySQL database, please do the following:

1

Login to your 123-reg control panel

4

Click on the MySQL Database link in the Web Tools section of your hosting control panel.

5

In the Manage Databases section press the Backup button to start downloading your database to your computer.

If this times out then your database may be too large to back up using a web browser. In this case you will need to use alternate means to back up your database.
