Are there any restrictions on my .US domain name?

This articles applies to .US domain names.

The following character restrictions apply for .US domain registrations:

  • Minimum character count: 3
  • Maximum character count: 63
  • Can include both letter and numbers
  • Can inlude hyphens, but not at the beginning, or directly infront of the ccTLD.

The following domain names and domain name types are not available for registration:

  • Domain names of all numbers, five digits and higher.
  • All numbers in the format of a zip code (five digits - four digits)
  • All telephone numbers, including toll-free numbers
  • Tagged domain names - this includes all domain names with a hyphen in the third and forth character positions.
