Why is a one year .uk domain name more expensive?

This article applies to .UK domain names.

The price for the registration of .co.uk, .org.uk and .me.uk domain names has been increased by the supplier Nominet. You can now register a .UK domain name from 1 to 10 years. With this in mind, the 123-reg .uk domain prices have increased to match this increase in the supply price.

The price for a two or more year registration is now cheaper than a one year domain registration as the domain management and administration costs are split over the total registration period.

Please note: This does not effect direct .UK domain names, where the price will remain at £5.99 per year, excluding VAT.
