Upgrading POP3 to new Mailboxes

This article will explain how to upgrade your POP3 email to the new mailbox. We've broken it down into the steps below: Backing up, Upgrading, and Importing. 

Please note: When upgrading to the new mailbox, it is important to create a back up of your contacts, otherwise they will be lost.

Backing up your email contacts


Login to your 123-reg webmail account.


In the Contacts window, right click on the Contacts sub header, then from the Extended menu, select Export and the type of file you would like to export your contacts as.


In the following pop up box, select Save File then click the Ok button.

Your contacts will now be exported and saved to your hard drive.

Upgrading your Pophost to a Mailbox

You can now proceed to upgrading your existing POP3 box to one of our new Mailboxes.


Login to your 123-reg control panel.


Scroll down to the Email section and click on the Manage Email option.


Find the mailbox that you wish to upgrade from the domain drop down menu. Then click the Manage button.

Please Note: If no forwarding exists for the pophost mailbox that you wish to upgrade you will need to recreate the forwarding with the name you would like the upgraded pophost mailbox to have, in the "Forward to" field add the popbox address that you wish to upgrade.

Click on the Upgrade your Pophost to a Mailbox link.

Your log on username will be changed to your email address. You can use this username to log in on our Webmail Service; http://webmail.123-reg.co.uk/index.php or you can use these settings to add a mail account in your mail client such as Outlook, or Mozilla Thunderbird.

The Mail server settings are as follows:

Incoming mail server:

POP3: pop.123-reg.co.uk

IMAP: imap.123-reg.co.uk

Outgoing mail server:

SMTP: smtp.123-reg.co.uk

Click on the Proceed button.

Importing your contacts

This section will explain how to import contacts into 123-mail webmail.


Login to the 123-mail webmail.

Click on the Configuration icon in the main toolbar.

Click on the Import folder in the left hand pane.

Click on the file type chosen when exporting previously.

Click on the Folder button to select the destination of the import.

Click on the Browse button and select the file from your folders.

Click on the Import icon to complete the import of your contacts.

What is Mobility?

This article will explain the 123-reg Mobility add on

This will allow you to keep up to date with all of your emails, tasks and appointments on the go, straight from your smartphone.

The Moblility add on is a 123-reg service that allows you to keep up to date with all of your emails, tasks and appointments on the go, straight from your smartphone.

You can also add your favorite social media accounts to you package, allowing you to include your Facebook and LinkedIn contacts, which means that you can network on the go. 

The add on works across all popular smartphones, including iPhone, Android, Windows and Blackberry devices.

You'll be able to read and reply to your emails straight from your phone, as well as managing tasks and appointments. You'll never be late to a meeting again!

Please note: When using mobility with a Blackberry you will need to install a third party application.

Mobility can be set up on any device running Android, such as mobile phones and tablets. As well as this, mobility can be set up on devices running iOS, such as iPhones and iPads.

Mobility can be set up on Windows mobile devices too, and this feature allows contacts, tasks and appointments to be synced to a user's smartphone.


What is the Open-Xchange connector?

This article will explain how you can install and configure the Open-Xchange connector.

The Open-Xchange connector allows you to utilise the Open-Xchange server functionality, and all of Open-Xchange's features through your Microsoft Outlook client. This means that you can manage your emails, calendar, contacts and tasks through Outlook and your changes will be made on the server, allowing you and your colleagues to work quickly and efficiently in the manner in which you find the most comfortable. 


You can login to 123-reg Webmail by going to https://webmail.123-reg.co.uk/


Type in your Email address and password.


Click on the Login button.


Once logged in select the Settings tab and click on Updater.


When the client file has downloaded, tick the box to accept the License Agreement and click on the Install button to continue.


Next a box will appear. Enter your mailbox Username and Password, click OK to continue.


A small notification will appear in the bottom left hand corner showing you an update is available, click on this notification to continue.


Follow the onscreen prompts to install the plugin.


The installer will again require you to enter your mailbox Username and Password, click the Install button to continue.

At this stage you can also set a custom profile name if you do not want to use the default setting.


Once installed run Microsoft Outlook. You will be asked to select a profile, If you didn't change it in the installation process it will be OXtender 2. Press the OK button to continue.
