How do I restore a backup to my hosting package?

This article will explain how to upload a backup of your website through your 123 Reg Hosting package.

Restoring a backup will allow you to revert to a previous version of your hosting package. This can be useful to recover deleted files.

You will need to have a backup of your website saved to your computer in a zipped folder. Check out this article to see how to create a backup of your website.

Start by logging in to your legacy Control Panel. For details on how to do this, please read the following article: How do I access and manage my products?

On your dashboard, select the cPanel Admin button that appears above Settings.

Select Backup under the Files section.

Select Choose file under the Restore a Home Directory Backup section.

Choose the backup file on your computer that you wish to use. This will typically end in tar.gz

Once you’ve chosen your file, select Upload. Once done, you’ll see a complete list of files that were restored.

Start by logging in to your 123 Reg Control Panel.

From there, select Web Hosting or Premium Hosting within the ‘Manage active products’ section, depending on which product you wish to use.

Next, select Manage opposite the ‘(bought before XX/XX/XX)’ option.

This will show you an overview of your current hosting packages. Click Manage for the account you wish to use.

On the next page, select Manage for the domain you wish to update.

Scroll down to the Files section and click the File Manager button.

To restore you back up, upload the file to your site using the upload tool.

Or you can upload via FTP, by uploading the file to your hope directory and enter the file name into the box provided.

You must also select the type of restore you require: you can delete all of your current files and restore only the .zip file you have uploaded; you can recreate only the files that are missing; or you can uncompress your files into a temporary directory for later use. Make a your decision with the radio buttons, and then click Start Restore.
