Using webste directory auto-indexing

This article applies to 123-reg Shared Hosting accounts.

Automatic indexing is a great way of improving your website's Search Engine Optimisation. Auto Indexing scans your website content, allowing search engines to quickly and efficiently learn what your website is about, and the kind of content you have on there. Indexing allows search engines to read your content, meaning that you're more likely to rank higher in Search Engine results; this will mean that more people are likely to find your website.

To enable Auto-Indexing on the Website Directory of your 123-reg hosting package, please do the following:

Login to your 123-reg control panel.

Scroll down to the web hosting section.

Select the relevant domain name from the drop down box and click on the Manage button.

Click on the Directory Indexing option in the Web Tools section.

Click on the Turn On button to enable Website Directory Auto-Indexing.
