How do I point my domain name at the 123 Reg Holding page?

This article will help you to set up your Domain Name to point at the 123 Reg Holding page.

Setting up a placeholder webpage on your domain is known as parking a domain name. This is useful if you’re not ready to build a website, but want to let visitors know the domain is in use. You can park your domain name if you don’t have a website to direct it to or need a temporary place to point it to.

If you’re not using a domain but want to keep hold of it so you may use it later, you can point it to the 123 Reg holding page. We’ll display a parked page on your domain to let visitors know the domain is taken. That way, if anyone stumbles across your domain then they will see some content, rather than a blank page.

To do this, you’ll first need to make sure that your domain isn’t locked. In addition to this, if you have an older version of our Domain Ownership Protection service (purchased before August 2023) in place on your domain, you may need to disable this service. If, however, you have our current Domain Ownership Protection service (purchased after August 2023) assigned to your domain, please continue reading.

Please note: You’ll also need to ensure your domain is pointed to the 123 Reg nameservers. Otherwise, any configurations you’ve made to the DNS through our Control Panel will not take effect. To park your domain, please follow these steps:

Start by logging in to your 123 Reg Control Panel.

From your ‘My products’ page, scroll down to Domains. Find the domain you wish to change and click Manage to access the ‘Domain Settings’.

Alternatively, you can click ‘Manage All’ to view your full Domain Portfolio, then select the domain to access ‘Domain Settings’.

Select DNS to view your DNS records.

Select Edit next to the A record with @ in the Name field. We recommend taking note of the current IP listed before making any changes, just in case you need to unpark your domain later.

Update the Value field to one of the IP addresses below:

  • 13.248.213.45
  • 76.223.67.189
Step 6 of 6

Select Save to apply your changes.

Please note: Most DNS updates take effect within an hour but could take up to 48 hours to update globally.
