How do I point my domain name to my Website Builder package?
This article will explain how you can point your domain name to your Website Builder or Online Shop package.
You can point your domain name to your Website Builder or Online Shop package, so that your visitors can view your newly created website, using two separate processes:
Firstly, you’ll need to ensure your domain is pointed to the 123 Reg nameservers. Otherwise, you will not be able to configure the DNS zonefile.
Please note: it will take between 24-48 hours for any new nameserver (DNS) records to become active. For more information on changing your DNS records, please view the following article: How do I change the nameservers for my domain name?
Updating your product settings
Start by logging in to your 123 Reg Control Panel.
From there, select Manage opposite Website Builder within the Manage Active Products section.
If you have more than one Website Builder package in your 123 Reg account, be sure to select the package you wish to update from the provided box first.
On the next page, you’ll see the settings and billing options for your Website Builder plan. Simply click Change that appears opposite the Domain field.
Enter the domain name you wish to use into the provided field and select Confirm to finish this process.
Changing your domain’s DNS settings
Once you’ve done this, return to your 123 Reg Control Panel.
From there, select your desired domain from the drop-down menu within the Manage Active Products section and click Manage.
Scroll down to the Advanced Domain Settings section and select Manage DNS (A, MX, CNAME, TXT).
Select Change within the Website Settings (A Records) section.
Choose Website Builder or Online Shop from the drop-down list, depending on which package you have.
From there, select Point to service.
A pop-up window will appear, asking if you wish to confirm your changes. Click Confirm to complete the process.
