What is delegate access?
This article will explain how you can use delegate access within your 123 Reg account.
Delegates are users that have been granted access to your account and can manage your purchased products or buy new ones on your behalf.
You can also grant delegates Management and Transfer Access to your domain names. Those with Management Access can update the contact details for your domains, lock/unlock them as well as edit their nameservers, hostnames and forwarding services. Those with Transfer Access can move domains between accounts, delete domains or list them for sale. For details on how to do this, please read the following article: How do I assign folder permissions for delegates?
When you invite someone to be a delegate on your account, they must have an account with 123 Reg. If they don’t, then they will be asked to create one before their invitation can be accepted. Furthermore, since delegates won’t have access to personal details such as passwords or payment details, they won’t be able to hijack your account.
To add someone as a delegate, please follow the instructions outlined below.
Please note: this article was originally created for our current Control Panel. As such, the steps outlined below may not be relevant for domain names purchased before September 2023 as we will be migrating them to our current Control Panel between August and December 2023.
Start by logging in to your 123 Reg Control Panel.
From there, click the tab Account Settings and choose Delegate Access from the list of options.
Sign in to your account again to continue.
On the next page, select Invite to Access within the ‘People who can access my account’ section.
A pop-up window will now appear, where you can enter a few details about your delegate. Be sure to add their name and email address into the provided fields and then choose what type of access level you want them to have.
Once you’ve done this, click Invite. They will now be sent an email invitation for your 123 Reg account.
