How to export data from your account

By exporting your subscriber data, you can download and view your subscribers’ data in a spreadsheet format.

You’ll also be able to find out useful information about your users, including when any users unsubscribed from your emails.

You’ll be able to export 3 different types of subscribers from your account: Current, Suspended and Unsubscribed.

Current subscribers

These are your subscribers that you can still send emails to.

If you want to export subscribers from one of your lists, you can do so from the ‘Collect’ function. Alternatively, you can use the ‘Send’ function, which will allow you to export a single list or multiple lists.

Here’s how to export your current subscribers using both methods:

Via ‘Collect’

Step 1 of 2

Hover your cursor over the ‘Collect’ tab and select ‘Lists’ from the drop-down menu that appears.

Step 2 of 2

Search through your folders to find your required list. Once you’ve found it, click the list name and select the ‘Export subscribers’ option that appears.

Once you’ve done this, you’ll need to start building your export.

Via ‘Send’

Step 1 of 2

Hover your cursor over the ‘Send’ tab and select the ‘Send campaign’ option.

Step 2 of 2

Under ‘Choose lists’, you can select ‘One list’ to export a single list, ‘All lists’ to export your entire database or, if you want to export a particular set of lists, you can choose one of your list groups. For more information about list groups and how to set one up, read the following article: How do I send my campaigns?

Alternatively, you can filter your selection by using an audience.

Once the number of active email addresses under ‘Review targeted subscribers’ has updated, select ‘Export data’ under the ‘Use targeted subscribers’ heading.

Building your export

Once you’ve selected the data using either of these methods, you’ll need to build your export. To do so:

Step 1 of 3

Give your export a name and select the fields you wish to include, such as email address, postcode and date of birth. To select more than one option, hold CTRL on your keyboard and click each field you want to include.

From there, click ‘Proceed’ to create your export.

Step 2 of 3

You’ll be taken to a new page where you’ll be informed that your export is being assembled.

You’ll receive an email as soon as your export is ready.

Step 3 of 3

Once your data is ready to download, you can retrieve it from the ‘Exports’ tab on your Home page. Simply click the Export name to start the download.

Suspended subscribers

These are subscribers who have been suspended, typically due to a ‘hard bounce’. This means that either the email address that’s associated with them doesn’t exist or their mail server won’t accept any emails. You can find out more information about ‘bounces’ here.

You can export suspended subscribers using the process outlined above for Current subscribers – simply by selecting the ‘Suspended only’ option during the ‘Building your export’ process. However, you won’t receive any details of when or why they were suspended.

As such, you’ll need to do the following:

Step 1 of 3

Hover your cursor over the ‘Collect’ tab and click the option ‘Suspended subscribers’ from the drop-down menu that appears.

Step 2 of 3

Here you’ll see a list of suspended subscribers, complete with relevant information such as the type of bounce, the reason for this and which campaign it occurred on.

Select the subscribers you wish to download and select ‘Export’.

Step 3 of 3

You’ll be taken to a new page where you’ll be informed that your export is being assembled.

Once your data is ready to download – you’ll receive an email that will inform you of this – you can retrieve it from the ‘Exports’ tab on your Home page. Simply click the Export name to start the download.

Unsubscribed

Subscribers will be added to your ‘Do Not Contact’ list if they unsubscribe from your emails, ensuring that they won’t receive any more emails from you.

To export these subscribers, simply follow these steps:

Step 1 of 3

Hover your cursor over the ‘Collect’ tab and click the option ‘Do Not Contact list’ from the drop-down menu that appears.

Step 2 of 3

Here you will see all users that have unsubscribed from your emails. To download this list, click ‘Export to csv’ and you’ll be notified via email once this is complete.

Step 3 of 3

Return to the Homepage and download the file from the ‘Exports’ tab on your Home page.
