Creating and editing website redirects in your Hosting package

This article will show you how to create redirects within your hosting package

If you’ve recently changed the URL for your website, you can set up a redirect so that your visitors are automatically taken to your new web address. To do this, follow the instructions outlined below.

Creating website redirects

Simply click on a title below to skip to the most appropriate FAQ. You can also click the Top button to return and make another selection.

Web Hosting plans purchased after July 2020 / Premium Hosting plans purchased after August 2020 (cPanel)

Start by accessing your Web Hosting dashboard.

On your dashboard, select the cPanel Admin button that appears above Settings.

On the next page, choose Redirects under the Domains section.

Enter the necessary details to set up your redirect. This includes:

  • Type: whether you want it to be a temporary or permanent redirect. A permanent redirect will notify the visitor’s browser to update any bookmarks that are linked to the page that is being redirected. Temporary redirects will not update the visitor’s bookmarks.
  • https?://(www..)?: the website you would like to assign the redirect to.
  • /: the directory for your domain’s redirect.
  • Redirects to: the page the user should be redirected to.

Once done, click Add to create the redirect.

 

Web Hosting plans purchased before July 2020 / Premium Hosting plans purchased before August 2020

Start by logging in to your legacy Control Panel. For details on how to do this, please read the following article: How do I access and manage my products?

From there, select Web Hosting or Premium Hosting within the ‘Manage active products’ section, depending on which product you wish to use.

Next, select Manage opposite the ‘(bought before XX/XX/XX)’ option.

This will show you an overview of your current hosting packages. Click Manage for the account you wish to use.

On the next page, select Manage for the domain you wish to update.

In the Web Tools section, click on the Website Redirect button.

Type in the domain name for the website you wish to direct users away from.

Now type in the domain name for the website you wish to direct users to.

You can now decide if you would like a Permanent or Temporary redirect.

Click the Create Redirect button.

That’s it, your website redirect has been set up.

Don’t worry, you can always delete a redirect if you need to. Just click on the Delete Redirect button.

 

Editing website redirects

Web Hosting plans purchased after July 2020 / Premium Hosting plans purchased after August 2020 (cPanel)

Access the Redirects page by following the process listed above. From there, you’ll see a list of your current redirects at the bottom of the page.

Although you won’t be able to amend any of the details, you can remove it entirely by selecting the Delete icon below Actions.

 

Web Hosting plans purchased between April 2015 and July 2020 / Premium Hosting plans purchased before August 2020

From there, select Web Hosting or Premium Hosting within the ‘Manage active products’ section, depending on which product you wish to use.

Click on the Website Redirect option in the Web Tools section.

In the Edit Website Redirect from field enter the directory that you wish to edit and press the Modify Redirectbutton.

This will then populate the create section where you can edit the Website to Redirect to field or change the redirection type., then press the Create Redirect button to complete the Website Redirection edit.

If you need to remove the redirect click on the Delete Redirect button.
