How can I create a backup of my website?
This article will show you how to back up your website’s files.
Please select which type of package you have to find out what actions you need to perform:
Please note: these instructions only apply to Web Hosting plans purchased after July 2020 and Premium Hosting plans purchased after August 2020.
On your dashboard, select the cPanel Admin button that appears above Settings.
Select Backup Wizard under the Files heading.
For the first step, select the option Back up.
On the next page, choose whether you want to perform a Full or Partial backup.
On the final page, select the files you wish to backup and enter your email address. Once done, click Generate Backup to begin the process.
Once complete, you’ll receive an email to confirm the process is complete. All your backups will be displayed in your dashboard and will be retained for 30 days.
Via FileZilla (FTP)
Before starting this process, you’ll need the following details:
- The IP address or domain name for your website.
- Your FTP username/cPanel login name.
- Your FTP password.
Start by opening FileZilla and you’ll be presented with several fields:
- For Host, enter your IP address or domain name
- For Username and Password, enter your FTP login details
- For Port, simply enter 21
Once you’ve done this, click Quickconnect.
FileZilla will now connect to your hosting account based on your provided details.
You’ll now need to fill in the Local site and Remote site sections.
For Remote site, open your website’s root directory and select your public_html folder. The root directory might be different for a secondary or addon domain.
For Local site, select the folder on your computer where you store your website’s assets.
Select all your website’s files and directories from the Remote site folder and drag them into the Local site section. Once this is complete, you’ll have a backup of your site saved on your computer.
