How do I add a domain name to my Web Hosting package?

The below step-by-step instructions will show you how to add a domain name to your Web Hosting package to allow you to host a new website through 123 Reg.

Please note: 123 Reg Web Hosting packages automatically set up both an @ A record and www A record for you when you map a website to your package. This means that your visitors will be able to find your website by either typing www.yourdomain.com or just yourdomain.com. To find out more about A records and other DNS records, please read the following guide: Domain Name System (DNS) Management Guide

Step 4 of 4

Scroll down to the Add a new website section. Here you can select the domain name you wish to use by either typing it in to the box provided or by using the drop down menu to select your domain name.

Then enter an admin email into the box provided, and click the Create button.

If you are using an external domain name simply type the domain name your require into the box. You will need to make sure to update the DNS records with your current provider to point that domain to your 123 Reg Shared Hosting IP address. (This IP address can be found on your welcome email).

If the domain name is registered with 123 Reg or you have purchased a new domain with your Shared Hosting package then your DNS records will be updated automatically once you have added a domain using the manage websites tool.

You can check that your domain name is pointing to the right IP address by clicking on the details tab on your Shared hosting package.

This will show you the IP address your package is pointed at, as well as the temporary URL of your website. You can also update the admin email of your site from this section.
