How do I move my existing WordPress site over?
This article will explain how you can migrate your current WordPress website over to 123 Reg.
If you already have an existing WordPress site, you can move it over using the auto-migration feature. To do this, simply follow the instructions outlined below:
From there, select WordPress Hosting within the ‘Manage active products’ section. Next, select Manage opposite Manage WordPress Hosting.
This will take you to a new page where you will see all your purchased packages. Select Manage for the plan you wish to access.
On the next page, select Create WP Site.
You will now be presented with two different options on how you want to set up your WordPress website. Choose I want to move an existing WordPress site.
On the next page, enter the address of the website you wish to migrate and select Next
After a few moments, you’ll need to enter the Admin Username and password for your site into the provided fields. Once these credentials have been entered and confirmed, click Next.
Once you’ve done this, the Worker plugin will begin installing, which will provide information on how the migration will be handled. You’ll also receive confirmation that the credentials you entered are valid.
Once this has completed, simply leave the options as default and click Next.
On the next page, you’ll need to state your location so that we can choose the data centre closest to you. From there, select Continue to begin the installation procedure.
Depending on how big your site is, this may take a while. During this time, you will see the progress of your migration, along with the option to cancel the migration.
Once it has completed, you will receive a confirmation email.
Once the migration is complete, a temporary domain will be assigned to your website. You can use this domain to check if your website is working and appearing correctly after the migration.
If you’re happy with everything, you can add a custom domain name to your hosting package by clicking Add Domain.
