How do I optimise my MySQL tables?

If your site seems slow, you can try optimising the site database to remove any overhead, which are gaps in data. This can help restore speed if the database is at fault, although it won’t fix the scripting issue that initially created the overhead.

Please note: this service is only available with Managed WordPress plans purchased after May 2021.

Step 1 of 4

Start by logging in to your phpMyAdmin account. For details on how to do this, please read our Support article: How do I access phpMyAdmin through WordPress?

Step 2 of 4

Once you’ve accessed phpMyAdmin, select Databases.

Step 3 of 4

Choose the database you wish to optimise from the list of provided options.

Step 4 of 4

You will now be given the complete list of tables within your database. Check the tables you wish to optimise individually or by selecting Check All at the end of the page.

Once done, select the With selected: menu alongside it and choose Optimize table from the drop-down menu that appears.
