How do I upload files using SFTP?

This article will explain how you can upload files to your WordPress site using the SFTP function.

Once you’ve enabled SSH, you’ll be able to upload files to your WordPress site using an FTP client such as FileZilla.

Before you start, you’ll need to have FileZilla installed along with your SFTP/SSH details, which can be found using the following guide: How do I enable SSH for WordPress?

Please note: this service is only available with Managed WordPress Standard, Pro and Ultimate plans purchased after May 2021.

Start by opening FileZilla and select the Site Manager icon near the top-left hand corner.

Within the Site Manager box, select New Site and enter a name for it.

From there, select the option SFTP – SSH File Transfer Protocol from the Protocol field and Normal from the Logon Type field.

Enter the SSH details of your Managed WordPress plan into the Host, Port, User and Password fields. Once done, click Connect.

Once connected, simply drag and drop any files to the relevant location to upload them to your site.
