Using website directory auto-indexing

This article will help you to configure auto-indexing on your hosting package

Automatic indexing is a great way of improving your website's Search Engine Optimisation.

Auto Indexing scans your website content, allowing search engines to quickly and efficiently learn what your website is about, and the kind of content you have on there. Indexing allows search engines to read your content, meaning that you’re more likely to rank higher in Search Engine results; this will mean that more people are likely to find your website.

Please note: this tool is not available on any Web Hosting plans purchased after July 2020 or Premium Hosting plans purchased after August 2020.

Start by logging in to your legacy Control Panel. For details on how to do this, please read the following article: How do I access and manage my products?

From there, select Web Hosting or Premium Hosting within the ‘Manage active products’ section, depending on which product you wish to use.

Next, select Manage opposite the ‘(bought before XX/XX/XX)’ option.

This will show you an overview of your current hosting packages. Click Manage for the account you wish to use.

On the next page, select Manage for the domain you wish to access.

Click on the Directory Indexing option in the Web Tools section.

Step 6 of 6

Click on the Turn On button to enable Website Directory Auto-Indexing.
