How to allow remote and unregistered domains in cPanel on VPS

This article will show you how to enable remote and unregistered domains within your Virtual Private Server.

Although cPanel blocks unregistered domains by default, you can change this within your server’s settings. These ‘fake domains’ can be used for testing purposes. Simply follow the instructions below to get started.

Please note: the following article was originally created for our current generation of Virtual Private Servers. As such, these instructions may not be relevant to our previous generation of Virtual Private Servers.

Step 1 of 8

Start by logging in to your 123 Reg Control Panel.

Step 2 of 8

Next, select Servers within the ‘All Products and Services’ section.

Step 3 of 8

Find the VPS you wish to use and click Manage opposite it.

Step 4 of 8

You will now be taken to your dashboard. From here, select Launch WHM.

Step 5 of 8

On the next page, click Server Configuration, followed by Tweak Settings.

Step 6 of 8

Click the Domains tab at the top.

Step 7 of 8

Select On opposite Allow Remote Domains to use a domain that you’ve registered but isn’t on your server. Alternatively, select On opposite Allow unregistered domains to use a domain that you haven’t registered.

Step 8 of 8

Once you’ve done this, click Save to confirm your changes.
