How do I verify my domain with SiteLock?
This FAQ will show you how to verify your domain name with SiteLock.
The below instructions will show you how to verify your domain name, part of setting up your SiteLock package.
When you log in to your SiteLock control panel, you will see a number of icons that will tell you about your site’s protection. Once of the first things you should do is verify your domain with SiteLock. To do this, start by clicking on the domain verification icon.
You have two options for verifying your domain name – by adding a meta tag to your website, or by adding a file to your website’s root directory.
If you have your website hosted on a hosting platform, you can use either option, but if you have created your website using a Website Builder then you will have to add the meta tag to your site.
Simply copy the meta tag provided and add it into the HTML of your site. Website Builders will have a separate option to do this, as most do not allow you to edit the HTML directly. Once complete, click the verify button to confirm verification.
To verify your domain name using a file, select Option 2, and then click on the Download button. This will download the verification file on to your local drive. Then use your hosting package’s file manage to upload the file into the Root directory (sometimes called the public_html, www_root or www).
Once complete, click on the verify button.
