How do I install my free SSL certificate?
This article will show you how to install your free SSL certificate that’s included with your Website Builder package.
Having an SSL certificate is an excellent way of gaining your customers’ trust, especially if you have an Online Shop, as they will immediately see that your site is secure and will be more likely to use your services.
As part of your Website Builder package, you’ll receive a free SSL certificate, which will be activated once you’ve added a domain to your package and published your website. Here’s how you can do this:
Please note: this article is only applicable for Version 8 of our Website Builder package. If you’re not sure which version of Website Builder you have, you can find out by reading this article.
This free SSL certificate will only cover 1 website that has been created using our Website Builder tool.
Start by logging in to your 123 Reg Control Panel.
From there, select Website Builder within the ‘Manage active products’ section. Next, select Manage opposite Manage websites.
You will now be taken to a new page where you’ll see your purchased Website Builder packages.
From here, click Options for the site you wish to amend and then choose Billing from the drop-down menu that appears.
If your Website Builder package already has a domain assigned to it, click Login and proceed to step 5.
If, however, it doesn’t, click Add Domain opposite the Domain field.
Enter the domain you wish to use into the provided field and then click Confirm to save your change.
You will now receive a confirmation message stating that your domain has been changed. Next, click Login to access your Website Builder package.
You may now begin designing and populating your site with content such as images, videos, text, social media links and more. Once you’re happy with it, select Publish in the top-right corner.
Don’t worry if you need to make future changes to your site, as you can republish your website at any time.
After a short period, you will receive a Congratulations message confirming that your site has been published.
You won’t need to perform any further actions as your SSL certificate will be automatically attached to your site.
You’ll know once your certificate has been published as a ‘Secure’ padlock icon will appear alongside your website’s URL in your browser.
