Implementing Energy Efficiency labelling

This article applies to 123 Reg Online Shops.

This article will outline the changes introduced by new EU regulations for the energy efficiency labeling of certain product groups.

Labeling on products such as household washing machines or vacuum cleaners will now need to include information on the product’s energy consumption. This information should be displayed next to the price of the item.

This new legislation only applies for certain product types. The product must have been launched after 01/01/2015 with a new model number. This also includes existing models that have been updated. Provision of the energy data in this new form is not required. The product must also fall into one of the below categories:

  • Household dishwashers
  • Household refrigerators
  • Household washing machines
  • Televisions
  • Air conditioners
  • Household tumble driers
  • Electric lamps and lights
  • Vacuum cleaners
  • Room heaters (and similar)
  • Water heaters and hot water tanks

To comply with these new regulations, you must upload the product’s datasheet and an energy efficiency label, which you can do through your Online Shop package:

Step 1 of 6

Log in to your Online Shop package and select the Products option from the Products drop down menu from the main toolbar.

Step 2 of 6

Click on the product number for the item you wish to edit.

Step 3 of 6

Scroll down the manufacturer information section, and click on the Select file button for the Product Data sheet. This will allow you to select and upload the product’s datasheet from your computer.

Please note: If your website can be displayed in multiple languages, you will be able to upload different datasheets for your different languages.

Step 4 of 6

Next, upload your energy label from your computer by clicking on the Select file button next to the energy label field.

Step 5 of 6

Once you have uploaded the file, you can specify the energy efficiency class for the product. You can specify either a class or an area. The area option is intended for lights, whereas all other products can have a single class. Use the sliders to make your selection. Use the Save button at the bottom of the page to save your data.

Step 6 of 6

Now when customers view your product on your store, they will be able to click on the Product Data Sheet link to open and view the datasheet. They will also see the energy rating of the product next to the price, which they can click on to view the product’s energy label.
