How do I obtain the authorisation/EPP code for my domain name?

Please note: Top Level Domains that are newer that 60 days or within 7 of entering redemption can not be transferred in or out of 123 Reg.

To request your authorisation/EPP code please follow the instructions below:

So an ‘authorisation’ or ‘EPP’ code is created by the domain registrar when you register a domain name.

Just so you’re aware, only ‘Top Level Domain’ names require an authorisation code.

Each code is unique and provides an extra layer of security for the domain name once it has been registered.

The only time you will really need an authorisation code is when you are transferring your domain name in or out of 123 Reg.

So if you are transferring your domain name to us, you should be able to use your control panel on your domain provider’s website to find your authorisation code, if not get in contact with them.

Ok, so to find your domain’s authorisation code, log into your 123 Reg control panel.

You’ll need to check that your domain name is unlocked first.

To do this, click on ‘manage’ next to the domain name you wish to obtain the code for.

If you have a ‘Top Level Domain’ name then the options in the ‘domain transfers’ section should look like this.

If the ‘domain transfers’ section has a different set of options then this means you have a type of domain name which does not require unlocking or an authorisation code.

Ok, now just click on ‘manage domain locking’.

If your domain name is unlocked it will read ‘unlocked’ just here.

If it is locked, you can unlock it by simply clicking here.

Once this is complete, you should see a message just here stating that the ‘domain name is ‘unlocked’.

Ok, now just click here to go back to the previous page.

In the ‘domain transfers’ menu, click on the ‘request auth. code’ option and you should see your code just here.
