How can I find my FTP username and password?

This FAQ will show you how to find your FTP details for your Hosting package.

You can find your FTP details through your hosting control panel by following the instructions below. FTP details are assigned to each domain name on your Hosting package, so your details for one website will not be the same as the details for another.

Select the correct article for the version of the Hosting package you are using. You can also click the Top button to return and make another selection.

Linux Hosting purchased after July 2020

Please note: When uploading to your hosting package via FTP, you root folder will be /domainname/public_html replacing domainname with your website’s domain name.

This process applies to our Web Hosting and Premium Hosting products.

Start by logging in to your Control Panel and scroll down to ‘Web Hosting’. From there, select Manage.

On the next page, select Manage for the account you wish to use.

Select the three-dot icon for the package you want to edit. From there, choose Settings from the drop-down menu that appears.

On your dashboard, select Account under the heading ‘Settings’. Here you will see your FTP login details.

Select your domain name using the drop-down menu and then click on the Manage button.

First login to your 123 Reg control panel and scroll down to the Web hosting section. Click on the manage button for Web Hosting.

Click on the blue Manage button for the package you’d like to access.

Now scroll down to the list of websites you have set up on your hosting package, and click the Manage button for the site you wish to find the FTP details for.

Once you have logged into your Xtend control panel, you will see your FTP details on the right hand side of the page in a section titled FTP Details.

Here you will set your FTP password, simply click on the Click here to set link.

You can now enter your new FTP password into the box provided and then click the Change Password button.

Minimum password length is 8 characters and must include a special character and as least two of: upper case letters, lower case letters and numbers.


Windows Hosting

If you have forgotten or do not have access to your current FTP password, you can create a new one through your hosting control panel.

Log in to your 123 Reg control panel and within the "Manage Active Products" section, click the green manage button next to the Shared Web Hosting product

You will see an overview of your hosting package. Click on the Manage button in the top right of the window.

Click on ‘Web Hosting with Plesk’.

From the Plesk control panel, click on FTP Access.

Click the username you wish to view the details of.

You will now see the FTP details for the selected user.

You can update your password by entering a new one in the password field and then confirming it in the box below, or you can use the Generate button to have a new password created for you.
