How do I install my own OS onto my Cloud Server?

This article applies to 123-reg Cloud Servers and Dedicated Cloud Servers.

This article will explain how you can install your chosen Operating System (OS) onto your 123-reg Cloud Server.

Before you can connect to your 123-reg Cloud Server you will need to activate VNC access, you can do this by following this guide: How do I login to my Cloud Server via VNC?

You will also need to upload an ISO file for the OS that you wish to install by following this guide: How do I upload an additional ISO to my Cloud Server?

To install your own OS please follow these steps:

Login to your 123-reg control panel.

In the Servers section, click on the Manage link next to the Cloud Servers section.

Click on the Manage button next to the Cloud Server you wish to configure.

Click on the Mount ISO tab.

Click on the Rescue Mode link.

Select the ISO image you wish to install in the CD-Image drop down and press the Execute button.

You will see the following notifications at the top of your Cloud Server Control Panel.

Please Note: You will not be able to connect to your Cloud Server until the current active jobs have reached 0, you can view the active jobs in the Server Status box found on the Dashboard tab of your Cloud Server Control Panel.

Connect to your 123-reg Cloud Server using your VNC client and at the Boot Device prompt press the ESC key on your keyboard.

Select the option 2) SATA optical drive 2 to boot from your ISO image.

Your chosen ISO image will now start loading, follow the steps onscreen to complete the installation process.
