How do I cancel or change my 123 Reg services?

This FAQ will help you to change or cancel your 123 Reg services

If you have decided that you do not need one or all of your 123 Reg services, you must cancel your services, or set it to expire at the end of your current billing period. Failing to do so may result in an unwanted renewal which you will be charged for.

The cancellation process varies depending on the product type you wish to cancel. Services can be cancelled:

  • Through your control panel
  • By contacting our Customer Relationship team
  • By raising a ticket to one of our support agents

The cancellation method is affected by the type of service. For a full break down of our services and their cancellation processes, please see below.

Please note that Consumers are eligible for a 14 day cooling off period for non-bespoke products. Bespoke products are anything that has been customised to the customer so cannot be sold.

An example of such products that this applies to at 123 Reg is Domain names. Due to their nature, this means that they are non-refundable.

Please note that the Cooling Off period only applies to Consumers, not Business Customers. If you are unsure whether you are a Business Customer or a Consumer, you can view the definitions of these terms in the Definitions section of our General Terms of Service.

Domain Names

How do I allow my domain(s) to expire?

To allow a domain to expire, you will need to do the following:

  • Step 1 of 3

    Login to your 123 Reg control panel.


  • Step 2 of 3

    Scroll down to the Domain names section and click Manage domain auto renewal, just below the Domain renewals link.

    The Domain Cancellation page will show list of domain names registered within this account.

  • Step 3 of 3

    Here you will have the option to set a new renewal period (of up to 10 years) or to turn off auto-renewal. If you turn off auto-renewal, you will still be able to manually renew your domain names at a later date.

Please note: Failure to set a domain to not renew before the renewal date will result in automatic renewal and thus the transaction cannot be refunded.

Surrendering your domain name

How do I surrender a .uk domain?

Surrendering your TLD domain name

You can request the deletion of TLD by faxing a request to OpenSRS Compliance department at +1 416 531 2516. The request should include the wish to delete the domain and be signed with Photo ID. Compliance will then follow up by email with the admin contact of the domain name to confirm the wish to have the domain deleted.

Mailboxes

Given the nature of the product, cancelling mailboxes will cause you to lose your mailbox and associated email address and emails, as well as any related catchalls and forwarders.

Hosting

SSL Certificate

To set an SSL Certificate to expire on the renewal date please follow the steps below:

Please note: SSL Certificates can only be cancelled 90 days prior to their renewal date.

    Go to the Security section.

    Click the link to Manage under SSL.

    Untick the box under Auto Renew.

Sub Domains

WHOIS Privacy

To set your Whois privacy to expire at the renewal date please follow the steps below:

    Login to your 123 Reg control panel.

    Go to the Domain names section.

  • Step 3 of 4

    Select Manage under Whois privacy.

  • Step 4 of 4

    If your Whois is set to autorenew, you will see the Yes option under the Auto-renew header is ticked. To turn off your Auto-renew, untick this option, and then click the Save changes option.

Domain Backorder

To cancel a Domain backorder follow the steps below

    Log into your 123-reg.co.uk control panel.

    In the Domain names section click on the Domain backordering option.

    To cancel a Domain backorder hover your mouse over the Edit icon.

  • Step 4 of 4

    Select Cancel backorder from the options that appear.
