How do I edit the footer of my WordPress website?
This article will show you how to edit the footer in WordPress.
When you choose a theme for your website, the footer will automatically display the copyright date along with the name of your chosen theme. Since this isn’t the most professional thing for your visitors to see, you may wish to change the text within your footer to state your business name and address instead.
Simply choose one of the following methods to see how you can amend your WordPress footer:
Without a plugin
From there, hover your cursor over Appearance in the left-hand menu and then click Customise from the provided options.
You will now be taken to a separate area where you can customise your site’s design.
Depending on the theme of your website, you should be presented with a Footer option within the left-hand menu. If so, select this option.
If, however, your chosen theme doesn’t give you this option, you will need to install a plugin instead.
Eventually, you will come across a page where you can edit the content of your footer. Be sure to save any changes you make!
With a plugin
From there, hover your cursor over Tools in the left-hand menu and then click Remove Footer Credit from the provided options.
On the next page, enter the text you wish to remove from your WordPress footer into the Step 1 box and then enter your desired text into the Step 2 box.
Once you’ve done this, click Save to implement your changes.
Please note: by using this method, you won’t be able to remove or change the footer copyright in your WordPress site.
