No. Sorry, but every virtual hosting provider is different, and that makes it hard for us to provide a transfer service. However, our VPS hosting packages do use technology that is considered standard, so there's a very good chance your website or server configuration will be compatible with our VPS packages.

Q. What is the difference between a dedicated server and a VPS? 

A dedicated server is a server that is dedicated to one customer. The full resources of that server are at the customer's disposal making it perfect for highly demanding websites or applications. A VPS is a server that is split into separate segments, each segment behaves like an individual server. This means that a number of VPS can exist on a single server which reduces the cost, but still offers high performance.

Q. What is KVM? 

KVM stands for Kernel-based Virtual Machine and is the virtualisation solution we use for our VPS hosting packages. It is the software that makes hosting multiple virtual private servers on a single physical server possible. KVM is a Linux based hypervisor that integrates deeply with the host OS, ensuring that each VPS, whether it is running Linux or Windows, can use the hardware to its maximum potential.

Q. Can I buy VPS hosting without a domain name? 

Yes. A VPS does not require a domain to work as the IP address can be used instead. However, you can register or transfer a domain to your server whenever you wish.

Q. I already own a domain name. Can I use it my VPS? 

Yes. Just transfer the domain to your 123-reg account and you will be able to use it with your VPS hosting.

Q. My domain name is held with another company. Can I point it at my 123-reg VPS?

Q. Is there a minimum contract period? 

You can buy VPS hosting on either a monthly or annual basis. This gives you the freedom to control your own contract period.

Q. How does the money back guarantee work? 

If you decide the virtual hosting package you've bought isn't right for you, give us a call within the first 7 working days. We'll refund what you paid - excluding the cost of registering any domain names you have, because domains can't be "unregistered" once you've chosen them.
