123 Reg Domain Ownership Protection (‘DOP’) Terms and Conditions

These Domain Ownership Protection Terms and Conditions are supplemental to the General Terms and Conditions, including the Acceptable Use Policy and the Data Protection Policy and apply to the provision of any domain related services by 123 RegLimited ("123 Reg"). The ordering of DOP services from 123 Reg constitutes acceptance by the Client of the General Terms and Conditions and these Domain Ownership Protection Terms and Conditions.

1. DOP Restrictions

1.1. When DOP has been enabled on a domain, the Client acknowledges and accepts that it will be unable to:

1.1.1. amend or updated registrant information;

1.1.2. remove the lock(s) on the domain name;

1.1.3. transfer the domain to another 123 Reg account;

1.1.4. transfer the domain to a third-party registrar; or

1.1.5. cancel the domain renewal without first disabling DOP.

1.2. The Client further acknowledges and accepts that it will be unable to disable DOP or make any amendments without the Client’s DOP password. 123 Reg support staff are unable to access the Client’s DOP password and it is solely the Client’s responsibility to ensure that such DOP password remains safe and secure.

1.3. In the event that the Client needs to reset its DOP password then The Client will be required to confirm their identity to 123 Reg as part of a manual process which could take up to 14 days to complete.

1.4. DOP is only available on primary domain registrations and is not available on certain TLDs.

2. Renewal Guarantee

2.1. Guaranteed renewal under DOP does not relieve the Client from the obligation to pay the renewal fee for the domain name. If payment of the domain renewal fee is not made within 5 days of the guaranteed renewal then the domain will be suspended as per 123 Reg Domain terms and conditions. If payment of the domain renewal fee is not made the domain name may be cancelled.

2.2. The Client understands and accepts that to recover a domain name which has been renewed under the DOP guaranteed renewal the Client must pay the applicable domain renewal fee and the DOP renewal fee in order to have the domain name restored to the Client's control panel

2.3.In order to prevent an automatic renewal under the DOP guarantee, the Client must disable DOP at least 24 hours prior to any payment date and set the domain name to manual renewal. The payment date is at least 7 days prior to the renewal date and varies by both payment method and by domain extension.

3. Domain Privacy

3.1. The Domain Privacy element of DOP is governed by 123 Reg's Identity Protect WHOIS privacy terms and conditions ("the Domain Privacy Terms"). The Client confirms that it will comply in full with the Domain Privacy Terms in respect of any domain on which DOP has been enabled.

The following terms and conditions will apply from the date that your service is migrated to Full Domain Protection or Ultimate Domain Protection products, as applicable, and as per our email notice to you, or from 31 December 2023, whichever is earlier.

Domain Ownership Protection. Domain Ownership Protection generally allows the Client to: (i) prevent accidental loss of a domain name due to an expired credit card or invalid payment method for a period of ninety (90) days before the domain goes through its normal expiration process (for customers on the Ultimate Domain Ownership Protection plan); and (ii) lock the Client’s domain name to the Client’s account.

DOMAIN OWNERSHIP PROTECTION WILL NOT, HOWEVER, PREVENT TRANSFERS RESULTING FROM YOUR ACTION OF LISTING YOUR DOMAIN FOR SALE ON ANY OF 123 REG’S PLATFORMS, INCLUDING PREMIUM LISTINGS, REGARDLESS OF WHEN YOU PURCHASED DOMAIN OWNERSHIP PROTECTION.

Once you have elected to purchase Domain Ownership Protection for any and all domain names, the automatic renewal function will be activated for each domain name and those names will not be transferable until the Client elects to remove the service or sell the domain as mentioned above. Accordingly, the Client acknowledges and agrees that it has carefully considered the implications accompanying the purchase of Domain Ownership Protection and understand the restrictions that Domain Ownership Protection will place upon the Client’s ability to transfer any domains for which the Client has purchased Domain Ownership Protection. Furthermore, the Client acknowledges and agrees that Domain Ownership Protection includes additional steps to verify the Client’s registration rights prior to deactivation. While the Client can elect to deactivate Domain Ownership Protection at any time, the Client also acknowledges and agrees that Domain Ownership Protection is subject to the Client’s refund terms set out in the General Terms and Conditions, and that the Client may not be entitled to a refund.
