Terms and Conditions for Pre-order .LONDON Domain Names

Part A

General .LONDON Terms and Conditions

  • These terms apply to all new and existing Clients of 123-reg seeking to register a .LONDON domain name
  • Individual Clients must be at least 18 years old to purchase a .LONDON domain.
  • Clients accept that multiple applications may be placed on the same .London domain name by other Clients and shall be granted by the priority rules listed under part B below. In the event that multiple Clients have priority over the .London domain, a third party auction phase will take place in distributing the .London domain.
  • Applications are at the discretion of the registry in accordance with their terms and conditions.
  • 123-reg does not take responsibility for any unsuccessful applications based on incorrect information entered by Clients.
  • .LONDON domain names will be charged at £34.99 each (excluding VAT) and can be registered for more than 1 year at a time. This price includes a non-refundable administration fee of £5.00 for all applications.
  • .LONDON premium domain names will be charged in accordance with the registry. The price will be revealed at the point of requesting the premium .LONDON domain, including the non-refundable administration fee of £5.00 for all premium applications.
  • Clients acknowledge that all £5.00 administration fees are paid directly to the .London Registry through 123-reg and therefore accept that the administration fee cannot be refunded by 123-reg.
  • If a Client is unsuccessful in registering their .LONDON domain, the administration fee of £5.00 from the price paid at check out, is non-refundable. Clients acknowledge that whilst 123-reg will use its reasonable endeavours to register a .LONDON domain, 123-reg does not accept any liability if the .LONDON domain name (for whatsoever reason) is incapable of being registered. 123-reg in no way, shape or form guarantees the successful registration of the .LONDON domain.
  • Payment for the relevant domain that the Client has applied for will be taken at the time of placing the order.
  • Clients agree that 123-reg has the discretion to provide a refund of the application fee (excluding the £5.00 administration fee) and will only refund the fees to the original payment card used for purchase, in the event of an unsuccessful application.
  • 123-reg shall use reasonable endeavours to provide any refund or credit within 30 days following allocation of the .LONDON domain name by the Registry following the close of the London Priority Period on July 31st 2014.
  • Clients acknowledge that the .London Priority Period will start on the 29th April 2014 and End on the 31st July 2014, however these dates are not within the control of 123-reg and are therefore subject to change.
  • Affiliate payments will not be paid out on the purchase of the .LONDON domain name(s).
  • Applicants are not permitted to use a proxy or privacy service if the applicant's underlying name and address are not visible.
  • Clients acknowledge that .LONDON domains fall under the Priority Order set out by the Registry. These include:
    • Priority 1:     Londoner Rights
    • Priority 2:     Londoner
    • Priority 3:     Priority GA/Non-Londoners
  • Sunrise applications will have priority over any other applications submitted during the London Priority Period; London Priority 1 will have priority over London Priority 2 and London Priority 3 and London Priority 2 will have priority over London Priority 3.
  • 123-reg's application process of .LONDON domain names is subject to 123-reg's General Terms and Conditions and 123-reg's Domain Registration, Renewal and Refund Agreement. If there is any conflict between these terms and the general terms, then the terms set out herein shall prevail.
  • 123-reg reserves the right to end this service, extend this service and or amend the terms and conditions of this service at any time without the prior notice or consent of the Client. Reasonable usage applies.
  • Clients acknowledge and understand that in some applications a "Validator" (.LONDON Registry's validation service provider) may contact the Client (here in after known as "Applicant") in order to validate the application to register their requested domain name from the following email address: admin@validation.london. If there is more than one application for the same domain name the Validator shall contact all applicants. Applicants shall have a maximum of 21 days (inclusive) to provide any details requested by the Validator before receiving confirmation of whether the applicant may proceed to the next stage. Part B


  • Sunrise is scheduled to begin on 29 April 2014 and end on 31 July 2014.
  • The term "sunrise" or "sunrise period" relates to the period of time during which applications to register a .LONDON domain may be submitted by Clients who are trademark owners that have entered their trademarks into ICANN's Trademark Clearinghouse.
  • Documentary evidence may be required to contain at least an up-to-date:
  • Electronic copy of an official document issued by the corresponding trademark office or trademark registry; and / or
  • Extract from an official online database operated by the corresponding trademark office registry.

Londoner Rights

  • In order to qualify under Londoner Rights Priority, the applicant must have:
    1. A valid London address; and
    2. An existing right for the name.
  • For the avoidance of doubt a valid London address shall include any of the 32 London boroughs and the City of London (a "London Address").
  • A list of London boroughs are included in Annex 1.
  • Each address is required to be validated. The Validator will check the validity of the address and may require further documentation if the address cannot be verified.
  • An existing right to a certain name can be any of the following types of rights described below:

Registered Trademarks

  • UK trade marks, Community Trade Marks and trademarks registered via Madrid Protocol with national effect in the UK. The UK trade mark registration must be in effect prior to 1 April 2014.
  • Applicants will be required to provide the following documentation as evidence:
    • Trade mark name
    • Trade mark registration number
    • Jurisdiction in which the trade mark is registered (UK/CTM/WIPO)
    • Date of application of the trade mark (must be prior to 1 April 2014)

Registered Company Names

  • Companies incorporated in the United Kingdom and registered Companies House, before 1 April 2014. The company must have "Active" status recorded at Companies House at the time of the validation.
  • Applicants will be required to provide the following as evidence:
    • Company Name
    • Companies House registration number
    • Date of Incorporation


  • Charitable organisations regulated by the Charities Commission and registered on its list of Registered Charities prior to 1 April 2014.
  • Applicants will be required to provide the following documentation as evidence:
    • Charity name
    • Charity Commission number
    • Date of registration

Unregistered Trade Marks and Trading Names

  • Applicants must demonstrate use of a name in London prior to 1 April 2014.
  • The applicant must prove use of the name by submitting any of the following types of evidence, which must contain the name in a clear, stand-alone format.
  • Dated advertising and marketing materials (e.g. brochures, pamphlets, catalogues, product manuals, displays or signage, press releases, screen shots, social media marketing materials etc.)
  • Links to websites, screen shots from websites
  • Headed and dated stationary, receipts, invoices
  • Dated photographs or scans of product labels, tags or containers
  • A signed declaration of use by a UK solicitor or trade mark attorney

Personal Names

  • Applicants must only use their personal full legal name.
  • Applicants will be required to provide the following documentation as evidence:
    • Current and valid passport
    • Current, valid full UK photo-card driving licence
    • Birth certificate
    • Residence permit showing full name and current address
    • National Insurance Card
    • Other official certificates that provide evidence of the legal name (e.g. marriage certificates)


  • Applicants that have only a valid London Address under the Rules will be categorised under the London Priority 2 (Londoner).

Priority GA/Non-Londoners

  • Applicants without a valid London Address under the Rules will be categorised under London Priority 3 (Priority GA/Non Londoners)

General Availability

  • General Availability is scheduled to begin on 9 September 2014.
  • At point of General Availability launching, all Clients of 123-reg will be able to register for any available .LONDON domain name on a first-come, first-served basis.
